Diving into an Unique Steam Game Trial: Guiding a Turdy Character with the Goal to Arrive at the Toilet
Steam Next Fest is currently underway, and enthusiasts have discovered plenty of entertaining creations from small studios. Yet, one is particularly notable for its offbeat concept. Called Unko Technica, this old-school styled jumping adventure includes a character that is literally a dung attempting to navigate to a toilet. For those curious, "Unko" means "poop."
The gameplay is straightforward: just use a jump control. Throughout one hundred fifty challenges, battle tough enemies and access a shop to buy customizations for your poop character.
Time your jumps precisely, as a error forces beginning again. Jump using air pockets to propel yourself upward, traverse disappearing surfaces, and touch switches to unlock secret routes. Earn currency for buying challenging levels as the action gets crazy.
Graphically, the experience shows off vibrant stages and catchy background music. Its minimalist visual style of morphing geometric shapes may remind players of classic titles like Earthbound.
While it's tough to think of other games where you play as a piece of feces, video games frequently incorporated toilet humor. For instance, in Death Stranding, players craft grenades from protagonist excrement. Games like Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved use feces as fertilizer. Naturally, such content is present heavily in Obsidian's adventure The Stick of Truth.
Despite its silly concept, Unko Technica has already garnered impressive awards, like being named best at a major publisher's GYAAR Studio in 2023. The demo is available currently on Steam, with the final release scheduled to debut on PC in the fall.
