Battlefield 6 Players Are Convinced: Missions Are Excessively Difficult

The release of the highly anticipated Battlefield 6 received broad praise, notably for its top-tier multiplayer mode. Just on Steam, live player figures surged to nearly 750,000. Yet, regardless of its fanfare, an increasing amount of players are voicing discontent with a portion of the release's most difficult challenges, which are mandatory to access certain guns.

Gamers have begun using tailored sessions set up using Battlefield Portal to complete them, highlighting just how arduous these assignments have become.

Understanding BF6 Objectives

Missions serve as Battlefield 6's permanent multiplayer tasks, different from the periodically changed day-to-day and weekly tasks. There are four categories of assignments, but although many simply offer cosmetics and some tools, achieving the firearm tasks is the sole method of obtaining 12 of the 41 main guns available in the game.

Several of these restricted firearms may soon earn a place on rankings for the best guns in Battlefield 6.

Gamer Backlash on Reddit

Over on Reddit, players are understandably sharing their frustrations about how hard and tedious a number of these challenges are. A particular gamer highlighted one of the most egregious examples, mandatory for acquiring the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Subdue 300 opponents with LMGs
  • Cause 10,000 non-ADS damage with LMGs

"This challenge is so terrible and totally unreasonable, I want to gouge my eyes out," is a statement that captures just how excessively challenging these tasks are.

The suppression mechanic in Battlefield is weaker than it's ever been in the series, so it lacks nearly as many positive effects in fights as it did in previous games. It only tallies as suppression if you fire a burst without hitting the target.

At the same time, hipfiring an LMG is highly imprecise and functions solely at extremely close range, which isn't typically where you prefer to be. The commenter also pointed out the paradox in the SMG challenge, to unlock the SCW-10, which needs takedowns using ADS, when that task would be considerably more fitting to hipfire kills, and vice versa.

Another Overly Demanding Challenge

Another Reddit user pointed out an additional excessively hard challenge, this time in the long-range weapon type to access the PSR:

  • Secure 150 precision takedowns from more than 200 meters away with sniper rifles

This is difficult enough on its own, but there's an additional crucial factor to consider: many Battlefield 6 maps do not even allow combat at those extended distances.

There's a healthy variety of map sizes, but because there are just nine maps in the game right now, it means you're limited to playing a specific urban map, another expansive area, and perhaps a classic map in a best-case scenario if you plan to engage from afar from beyond 200 meters.

The Alternative Method

Nevertheless, a method exists: the custom game tool. The Battlefield Portal is a tool that allows you to design tailored experiences on the battleground of your choice, including AI opponents. This implies you can bypass the intended method… but it doesn't exactly feel like the intended gameplay experience.

But when completing the missions in a standard match appears to work against fun, since you are forced to participate in such an unorthodox manner that harms both you and your squad, who can fault a player for grinding them out in a personal session so teammates aren't hindered?

Future Adjustments

It is expected if some of these assignments are adjusted to be less difficult in the next few updates, because should they remain unchanged, certain gamers simply will never acquire the gated weapons.

Currently, the audience continues to voice their opinions on these demanding battlefield assignments, hoping for a fairer overall gameplay in future updates.
